Another month has started. June is rokugatsu (六月) in Japanese. The old name is minaduki (水無月), literally water without month. But June is famous for rainy season. Rainy season is called tsuyu (梅雨). Tsuyu is also read as baiu (梅雨), literally plum rain. That is the rain around the time when the plum fruits get ripe.
June 1 is known as koromogae (衣替え), literally clothes change. It is the time to change the winter clothing to summer clothing. At schools uniforms are changed to the shirts and bottoms without jackets.
This year the weather is still unstable, sometimes hot and other times cold. So we still need jackets sometimes.
