六月二十二日(rokugatsu nijyuni nichi): June 22

Today I read an interesting article in the local morning newspaper. It is about the egg drop contest. Using only a piece of paper (about A2 size: 42cm x 59.4cm), both sides tape, and Scotch tape students created crafts to protect an egg in spite of dropping from the 4th floor (about 15 meters high).
The contest was held at the Osaka Electro-Communication University (Osaka Denki Tsushin Daigaku: 大阪電気通信大学) on May 24. 13 teams (about 50 freshmen of 3 to 5 students each) applied for the contest and 3 of them protected the egg without breaking. It is the contest of making a buffer.
The best award was given to the lightest one which weighs only 33 g. The shape looks like a palm tree.
The teacher in charge commented that the objective of this contest was to learn by playing, and they invented to attain that goal.
Don't you think it is interesting?
