2016.5.5

It was fine and very warm.
Tiday is rikka (立夏), the first day of summer. It is one of nijyushisekki (二十四節気), the 24 solar terms. The last one was kokuu (穀雨) on April 20, and the next one was shoman (小満) on May 20.

It is a national holiday called "Kodomo no hi(こどもの日)", Children's Day today. It is also called Tango no sekku (端午の節句). It is a celebration to wish the healthy growth of the children. Those who have boys in the family decorate kabuto (兜), samurai helmet and koi nobori (鯉のぼり), carp-shaped streamer. There are sweets called "Chimaki(粽)" and  "Kashiwa mochi(柏餅)", rice cake stuffed with azuki paste wrapped with an oak leaf, which we eat on this day.

Today is officially the last day of the golden week.

I went shopping and visited seven temples in Yokosuka and Miura.
