三月九日(sangatsu kokonoka): March 9

It was cold. It rained here and snowed in Tokyo.

Yesterday there was the 82nd Academy Award Ceremony, the biggest film festival in the USA. The first woman director, Kathryn Bigelow got the Oscars for Directing, Best Picture, and others for The Hurt Locker. Since it was the International Women's Day yesterday, it was such a significant moment.
Avatar got three Oscars in spite of having renewed the new records and became the best hit movie in the world.
Last year Japanese movies okuribito (おくりびと), Departures got the Best Foreign Language Film and Tsumiki no ie (つみきのいえ), Maison en Petits Cubes got the Short Film (animated), but there was no Japanese film nominated this year.
One film related to Japan was The Cove, Documentary Feature. They say they were filmed without getting the permission in Japan. Therefore it may be difficult to be released in Japan.
I hope to watch all the winner pictures near future.
