三月十一日(sangatsu jyuichi nichi): March 11

It was rather warm and fine today. I could see the beautiful sunset this evening from the office in Tokyo. When I got home and watched the TV news, I knew it was the day of the Diamond Fuji.
This happens only twice a year. This is the phenomenon that the sun rises or sets on the top of the Mt. Fuji. The sun looks very beautiful like a diamond therefore it is called as the diamond Fuji. It only happens at the sunrise of the range of within 35 degrees north-south of west side of the Mt. Fuji or at the sunset of the range of within 35 degrees north-south of east side of the Mt. Fuji with the good climate condition.

Please check the following site if you would like to go to see the diamond Fuji, there is an estimated schedule from certain points of the diamond Fuji in the Kanto area though it is written only in Japanese.
