四月四日(shigatsu yokka): April 4

It was cloudy. But in most part of Japan it was either fine or cloudy and people enjoyed viewing the full bloom of cherry blossoms here and there. Full bloom is mankai (満開) in Japanese.
In today's night news the cradle of the cherry blossom tree called somei yoshino (ソメイヨシノ) which Japanese people love was found in Komagome, Tokyo(東京都駒込). Somei yoshino is a breeding of ooshimazakura (オオシマザクラ) and edohigashi (エドヒガシ). Around Komagome area used to be called Somei mura(染井村), Somei village. The gardeners there are said to have made somei yoshino.
Today there was a cherry blossom festival in Komagome. People there were proud of hearing that Komagome is a birthplace of somei yoshino.
I felt like visiting there someday too.
