Today Seattle Mariners' Ichiro (35 years old) made a new Japanese baseball record. He has made 3,086 base hits in total during his career in Orix for 9 years and in Mariners' since 2001.
He tied the Japanese record for hits (3,085 by Mr. Isao Harimoto) with his first grand slam in six years yesterday.
He's been making a record of 200 base hits in a year for 9 years, which is the new record for the Major Leagues.
He led the Samurai Japan to victory at WBC the other day after having bad times. And the tie record was the grand slam. How dramatic his life is!
