They say April 25 is kokuren kinen bi(国連記念日), United Nation's Anniversary. From April 25 to June 26, 1945 representatives of 50 countries have met in San Francisco at the United Nations Conference on International Organization to draw up the United Nations Charter.
The United Nations officially came into existence on October 24, 1945. Therefore they have celebrated October 24 as United Nations Day (国連デー：kokuren day)since 1948.
Japan became a member state on December 18, 1956 as the 80th state.
There are 192 member states in the United Nations now.
