They say April 22 is Earth day, which is designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment. It was founded by the U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in 1970 and is celebrated in many countries every year.
In the first year there gathered 20,000,000 people. In 1990 more than 200,000,000 from 141 countries participated.
The United Nations calso elebrates an Earth day each year on the March equinox,usually on March 20, a tradition which was founded by peace activist John McConnell in 1969.
