It was cloudy and very cold today.
January 16 is yabuiri (藪入り). It used to be a holiday for apprentices and brides to be able to go back home in Edo (江戸) era. There were only two holidays for them in a year, that is January 16 and July 16 because January 15 and July 15 were very important festival days.
After World War II, Sunday became day off and yabuiri went out of use.
