It was raining when I got up. It's been a long time since the last time it rained. In Tokyo it was sleeting and became snow. But it did not pile. In the afternoon it was fine as the weather forecast said.
Sleet is mizore (霙) in Japanese. Snow is yuki (雪) in Japanese. Rain is ame (雨) in Japanese. Something falling from the sky has rain in the kanji character, which is called amekanmuri (雨冠), literally rain crown.
It was a cold day.
