2月20日(nigatsu hatsuka): February 20

It is the opening day of the 115th umematsuri (梅まつり), plum festival in Mito (水戸). Mito is very famous for the plum garden "Kairakuen(偕楽園)." The festival will last until the end of March. Now about 40 % of the plum trees are in bloom.

Japanese people like to rank best 3. The three most beautiful and famous gardens in Japan are Kairakuen in Mito, Kenrokuen (兼六園) in Kanazawa(金沢), and Korakuen (後楽園)in Okayama(岡山).
