2013.10.20

It's been raining and very cold today.  It seems winter came before autumn comes.
I went to see a movie "Diana."  It reminded me of the summer of 1996 in Chicago where I saw her in front of the Drake Hotel across the street.  There is yojijukugo (四字熟語), a four-character idiom in Japanese, bijin hakumei (美人薄命), literally means beautiful person short life.  Beauty and luck seldom go together. I think she is the case.
After that I bought another ceiling light for a living room.  Last time I asked someone to come to fix it, but this time I managed to install it by myself.  I am glad to have done it finally after having inconvenience for a few days.

2012.8.31

The last day of August.  What did you do in August?  Watched many Olympic Games?   I did so.

I took a compensated day off today.
In the morning I went to Ginza (銀座) to see a Japanese movie "Watashi no michi (「わたし」の人生)" which means my way, but the kanji character michi (人生) means life, so it means my life.  It is a story of a family whose mother passed away suddenly and whose father developed dementia.  There are two daughters, one is a professor of the university after anchor woman who has a husband and a daughter, and the other is a tango singer who has lived in Argentina for a long time.  It is a matter of nursing care which is a social problem in Japan.  Who takes care of aged father, how and where.  I went to see this movie because this tango singer's fan who is a care manager recommended me to see in May.  It was a nice movie.

In the afternoon I attended a study meeting for licensed tour guides in Ikebukuro (池袋).  There were 3 speakers and about 25 audience.  They were so erudite that we learned a lot from their broad knowledge and various experiences.  After that we went to izakaya (居酒屋) to have a party.

Tonight I saw the beautiful blue moon.  Did you see it?

2012.5.18

It was fine today.
I went to see a movie "Larry Crowne."  Its Japanese title is  Shiawase no kyoshitsu (幸せの教室), meaning Classroom of Happiness.  The English title and Japanese title are quite different here again.  English title is just a name of the main character, but Japanese title depicts the contents.  The main characters are Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts whom I like very much.  There is a Japanese professor which reminded me of the Japanese neighbor of "Breakfast at Tiffany's."  He looks serious but weird.  Are Japanese people still looked weird through Western eyes?
I had delicious lunch with colleagues and enjoyed chatting.  I also met my old friends from Expo '92, who are a father and a son and we enjoyed the reunion.
