I visited many places today. I was too busy to eat lunch. In Nagoya there are many famous local foods so I expected to eat something during this stay.
I went to Arimatsu (有松) where is very famous for tie-dying. I had a chance to see the procedure of this beautiful way of tie-dying. It was surprising and I knew why they are so expensive.

七月十二日(shichigatsu jyuninichi): July 12
I went to see the National Diet Building. This was the second time for me to see inside the building. When I visited before I felt how small it was comparing to the TV relay broadcasting. This time it was not so small than my memory. And I noticed that it must have been the hall of the House of Councillors. Because the fixed number for the memebers of the House of Councilors is 242 and that of House of Representatives is 480.
Outside at the garden there were representative trees from each prefecture.

七月十日(shichigatsu toka): July 10

It was fine and very hot today. I went to Kamakura (鎌倉). It is a very history place with many famous temples and shrines. This time I visited the statue of the Great Buddha (大仏:daibutsu) and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu (鶴岡八幡宮) shrine. Please see the pictures.
Many Japanese are usually both Buddhist and Shintoist at the same time. Kamakura is a good place to see both religions, that is, to see temples for Buddhism and shrines for Shintoism.
Last time when I visited Kamakura was in March. At that time I went to see the fallen big Ginkgo Tree at the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu. But I could not see the remain at that time, but this time I saw the bottom of the tree and the transplanted branch.
There are many big lotus flowers at the ponds.
After a long walk I got suntan on my shoulders.

六月十七日(rokugatsu jyushichi nichi): June 17
Today it was fine and hot unlike a rainy season.
I had a chance to visit TEPIA in Tokyo. TEPIA means technology utopia. It was established in 1989 but I did not know about it until recently. It is a kind of museum which exhibits the Japanese cutting-edge technologies. There are five themes at the Advance Technology Exhibition Hall at the first floor: 1. Life and Communication 2. Health and Medical Care 3. City and Mobility 4. Environment and Energy/Resource 5. Small World and High Functional Material. On the second floor there is a video library. There are tours for about an hour if you like.
The best thing is the admission. It is free of charge.
I saw many interesting technologies there. One of them was a segment sensor which analyzes the face appeared on the monitor and estimates the sex and age. Their data is only made for Japanese people, so if a foreigner stands in front of the camera, the data is not always correct. The other was an estimation machine of the degree of smile. If you smile in front of the camera, it measures the degree of your smile from 0% to 100%. This technology is applied for the digital camera to take the most photogenic picture.
It was so interesting that I recommend you to visit there someday.

増上寺(zojoji)
There is a famous temple called Zojoji (増上寺) near the Tokyo Tower(東京タワー). It is the main temple of Jodo shu(浄土宗:Pure Land Sect) of Buddhism. It was founded in 1393 and relocated to the present site in 1598 after Ieyasu Tokugawa (徳川家康), founder of the Tokugawa shogunate, entered Edo (江戸) in 1590. It became the family temple of the Tokugawa family. Therefore there are some graves of the Tokugawa shoguns there.
Today I happened to pass the temple. They were having a special memorial service called gyoki(御忌).Gyokiis the memorial service for the anniversary of the Jodo shu founder Honen Shonin's (法然上人) death. He passed away on January 25, 1212 at the age of 80.
Here attached the picture.
