Today is a national holiday called Keiro no hi (敬老の日), Respect for the Aged Day. It used to be on September 15, but became on the third Monday of September since 2003.
According to the statistics there are 36,250,000 people who are over 65 years old which is 29.3% of all the population. There are 12,900,000 people who are over 80 years old which is10.4% of all the population. Japan is the top of senior population among developed countries.
One fourths of them are still working, and 50% of people aged from 65 to 69 years are still working.
They say US TV series "Shogun" produced by Hiroyuki Sanada got 18 Emmy awards. Congratulations!!
