2014.4.29

Today is a national holiday called "Showa no hi (昭和の日)" literally means day of showa.  It used to be "Tenno tanjobi (天皇誕生日)" Emperor Showa's Birthday.  But it became "Midori no hi (みどりの日)" from 1989 to 2006 and "Showa no hi" from 2007.
This is usually a start of the Golden Week, but since today is Tuesday some companies started their holiday from last Saturday.

It was cloudy today.

I went to Shinjuku to see a movie "Amazing Spider-Man 2" in the morning.  There were some people standing in front of the ticket counter.  It was a nice movie.  It would be much fun if I saw it by 3D.  The ending after the end credit roll made us expect the third episode.  When I came out of the theater, there were so many people waiting.
Then I went to Yokohama to see another movie in the afternoon.  It is a Japanese movie "Thermae Romae II (テルマエ ロマエII)" which was also an interesting movie.  There were many people waiting for buying the ticket here too.
Both were happened to be second movies and I like both first and second movies respectively.

Movie is a good choice on this cloudy holiday.

2月11日(nigatsu jyuichi nichi): February 11

February 11 is a national holiday caled kenkoku kinen no hi (建国記念の日), the National Foundation Day.
It was sleeting, snowing, and raining again and very cold.
I went to see three movies. The first one was Social Network. It is a story of the founder of Facebook. I also use the Facebook. So it was interesting to know how it started. In today's paper they say in China the movie is not released but the Facebook itself is used by 700,000 people. In December it has only about 100,000 users.
The second one is a Japanese movie, boku to tsuma no 1778 no monogatari (僕と妻の1778の物語), 1778 stories between me and my wife. It is a story of a SF writer whose wife got cancer and he decided to write an interesting story for her every day to improve her immunity system against cancer by laughing. At first the doctor said he was not sure if she could live more than one year, but she lived 5 years longer after all. It was a true story and very moving one.
The third one is Wall Street. It is a story of a sales person of the brokerage firm and his fiance and her father. The figure of money is too much and I felt it is a story of the different world. I went to see with friends for their birthday presents. I am glad to know that they liked it.

十月十日(jyugatsu toka): October 10

October 10 was used to be a national holiday called taiiku no hi (体育の日), Physical Education Day. In 1964 it was the opening day of the Tokyo Olympics because October 10 was singularity of fine weather. Since 1966 it has been the national holiday but since 2000 it has been moved to the second Monday of October.
Therefore this is the 3-day weekend. Today is written as 10/10/10, and it is taian (大安) which is considered as a very good day for wedding, therefore there are many weddings. Unfortunately it rained.
I went to see three movies, one is Akunin (悪人:Villain), the other is The Last Message Umizaru (海猿: Sea monkey), another is Eat, Pray, Love. The first two were Japanese movies.
In the first movie the actress, Eri Fukatsu (深津絵里) received the Best Actress Award in the Montreal World Film Festival last month. There were fewer audience than I expected.
The second movie was 3D movie. From the title this seems the last one of the series, but I felt someday another one will be made again.
The third one was based on the memoir of Elizabeth Gilbert. When I traveled in the USA last month, it was still one of the best seller books.
And I am watching another one Nihon chinbotsu (日本沈没: Japan Sinks)on TV.
