A new month has started. October is jyugatsu (十月) and kannazuki (神無月) which means the month without gods because all of the gods get togethet in Izumo(出雲). There October is kamiarizuki (神在月).
It was a fine beautiful Sunday.
I went to the nearby shrine first and headed for Tokyo to attend Mr. James Skinner's secret seminar, Koko now. I have known him for several years by recorded seminar and a book but have never attended the real seminar. Through the joint talk live with Ms. Natsuko Yokota I connected with him by Facebook and LINE and knew about this monthly meeting.
It started at 9 am and finished around 8:30 pm. They required us to wear elegant costumes during the seminar but they said they had exercise in the morning session. So we needed to change.
There was a special guest's lectures too. I had no idear who he and his wife were but it seemed they are very famous in the certain world.
The first comers were invited to the stage and to tell their names and what James Skinner is for them.
There were many new things I learned today.
The venue was very closed to the Tokyo tower which looked very nice.

A new month has started. October is jyugatsu (十月), and its old name is kannazuki (神無月), which means the month without gods. Because all the gods get together in Izumo (出雲). So in Izumo it is called kamiarizuki(神在月) which means the month with gods.
However you need to be very careful about the calendar because they count in the luner calendar and the actual kannazuki sometimes falls in November or even in December. And the welcoming festival for gods are held according to the luner calendar.
Two years ago I went to Izumo in October and knew about it for the first time, and last year I went there in November but the actual festival was held in December. So I have expected to visit there for the festival wishing sandome no shojiki (三度めの正直) "The third is the charm. "
But since my father passed away in August I cannot visit there this year. Those who lost family member are required to refrain from visiting shrines for a year. This period is called mochu (喪中) which means being in mourning.

October 1 is known as koromogae (衣替え), changing clothes. It was rainy and rather cool, therefore we actually needed something to wear on the top.
They say it has been 50 years today since the Shinkansen (新幹線), bullet trains started running. It runs more than 200 km per hour and connects 500km between Tokyo and Osaka for less than three hours. Amazing to say, there have been no accidents with the death toll.
